Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate insists "we all know" where Kylian Mbappe will end up this summer amid talk of a move to the Reds.

The French superstar has made it known to PSG that he will not be renewing his contract in the French capital, leaving him free to pick his next destination. Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the World Cup winner, who would be available on a free.

Real Madrid are also firmly in the chase and have had an interest in the player ever since he burst onto the scene with Monaco back in 2017. He's been at PSG ever since but will now be on the move with the Liverpool defender suggesting his next destination is obvious.

Konate was asked after Liverpool beat Brentford: "In all honesty, do you really think he’s going to come to Liverpool?" The French defender then replied: "We don't think about him, we all know where he's going to go."

Mbappe has commanded huge wages whilst at the Parc des Princes and those sums would appear to be beyond what Liverpool have paid their top stars. Jurgen Klopp has previously bemoaned some of his rivals spending mammoth amounts, claiming they can't compete.

The German will no longer be in the dugout from next season but suggested any deal for Mbappe would be beyond them: “Obviously, I’m not involved in that, but I can tell you I’d be surprised if all the top clubs were. The top clubs I know, for most of them it will be tricky - wages, signing-on fee.”

In August, he also told Sky Germany: "I can say that I think he's a really good player but the financial conditions don't suit us at all. I wouldn't like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there's nothing to it. It's possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me. That hasn't happened in the eight years that I've been here. That would be the first time."

Liverpool do not lack attacking talent, although the future of Mohamed Salah is unclear amid talk of a move to Saudi Arabia. They also have Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz in their ranks.

PSG boss Luis Enrique maintained that the club would come before any player despite Mbappe's superstar status. He said: "We've always said, ever since I arrived here six months ago, that the team is above everyone else, above all the individuals, and that's the same policy for the whole club.
