Diogo Jota was spotted on crutches after sustaining an injury in Liverpool's thumping 4-1 win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Jota, 27, was instrumental in Darwin Nunez's opening goal shortly before being withdrawn in the first-half. Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo joined Nunez on the scoresheet to earn the Reds a crucial victory.

The three points came at a cost, though, with Jota stretchered off following a nasty collision with Christian Norgaard. Curtis Jones was also forced off in the opening period and Nunez failed to emerge for the second-half with an issue of his own.

Jota was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches with a knee brace on, while Jones - who has been enjoying a fine season - left the capital with a protective boot on. Speaking post-match, Jurgen Klopp admitted it was too soon to tell how significant any injuries sustained on the afternoon are.

He told TNT Sports: "I think there was a knock on Curtis [Jones]. It was a challenge with Diogo [Jota] as well and Darwin [Nunez] we are not sure if he has something or not, he felt something."

The German continued, admitted he was conflicted over the result due to the injuries to three key figures in the Liverpool team: "It is mixed emotions, we lost players which we don't know how serious it is. It doesn't look great for either of them.

"But what the boys did after 15 minutes was exceptional against a team set up to annoy you. Eighteen times a set piece is flying into your box, you need bodies and luck in a moment and a goalie as well, who played an incredible game. We played a good game from a specific moment on. We controlled them as much as you can and we are happy about that."

While it's unlikely Liverpool will know the full of extent of the issues sustained by Jones, Jota and Nunez, the return of Salah - who bagged a goal and an assist after coming off the bench - is a welcome boost for the Reds.

The Egyptian forward, who was making his first appearance for Liverpool since New Years Day after picking up a muscle injury at the Africa Cup of Nations, was the difference against Brentford and could feature from the start against Luton on Wednesday if Jota and Nunez are unavailable.

Saturday's victory at the Gtech Community Stadium ensures Liverpool will end the weekend at the Premier League summit ahead of the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.
