Michael McIntyre's Big Show made a return after four years this weekend, with some fans airing their disapproval.

The BBC One programme was slammed by viewers who said the broadcasting service could "do better".

The comedian, 46, was joined on stage by Rylan Clark, Joel Corry and Tom Grennan but failed to make a good impression with those watching at home.

The light entertainment show first launched in 2015 as a one-off special, but has ran for six seasons.

"Michael McIntyre's TV show is on for the first time in about three years. Shame the gap can't be another three years. About as funny and entertaining as a bucket of wasps. Come on BBC you can do better!!"

Over on ITV, The Masked Singer averaged at around 4.1 million, with a peak of 4.8 million viewers.

During the popular segment of the show Send To All, Michael went through Rylan's phone to send a funny text message, but he found more than he bargained for.

While he sat in the audience, Rylan said: "Do you know, I have removed something but I’ve just seen something I’ve forgotten to remove.”

"Oh is it Hinge the dating app?" Michael grinned.

As the cameras panned over Rylan's screen, Michael read out his bio.

He said that Rylan had listed his profession as "host at TV" and said that the best way to win him over was to "be decent".

Speaking about joining online dating, Rylan said: “Do you know when you join these things, because I am a single man now, and I thought I’ll get with the programme and do what everyone else does and try this out.

“But it says you have to add a certain amount of photos. I’ve not updated my photos since I’ve done that ‘Oh that one will do, that one will do’.”

He was referencing a photo of himself on his back with his eye mostly closed in a fluffy jacket.
