Josie Gibson has shared her thoughts on the announcement of Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley as the new This Morning hosts.

The ITV show will have a new presenting duo debuting next month, and Josie, who is often a guest presenter on the show, was previously thought to be taking over hosting duties after Holly Willoughby left. After months of various guest hosts, ITV decided to choose Ben and Cat as the show's new presenting pair to take over from Holly and Phillip Schofield.

The exciting news was shared on Friday. Over on Instagram, Josie expressed her excitement saying: "I feel a work welcome party coming on!!!!!". Her fellow This Morning host Alison Hammond added: "So excited about this." Alison, who often hosts on Fridays, will continue to do so alongside Dermot O'Leary.

Ben and Cat are set to present from Monday through Thursday starting in March. Expressing his joy about joining the This Morning presenting team, Ben stated that it feels special for both him and Cat to be taking part in This Morning's new chapter. He considers it an honour to take on the responsibility and join Alison, Dermot and the entire This Morning team.

He said: "For the last ten years I've been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat, welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes This Morning so loved."

Cat also shared her excitement: "This Morning is a national institution. Whenever it's on, it's like having your friends over - funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful - like all the greatest friendships! This Morning is and always will be the viewer's show. Ben and I both know how much people love it, and with the help of an amazing team of people, we're going to do our best to take care of it."

Martin Frizell, the Editor of This Morning, expressed his enthusiasm: "The team and I have relished the opportunity to try new things these past few months and remind viewers what a massively talented team both on and off screen we have here at This Morning. We can't wait to welcome Ben and Cat fully into the fold next month and witness the start of another exciting chapter in the show's 35 year journey."

However, the move has meant Ben has quit his job on Good Morning Britain after 10 years on the morning show. Posting a photo of himself alongside his GMB co-stars, he said: "Ten years has flown by at GMB. I’ve loved every minute, (well not those minutes immediately after the alarm goes off at 3.30am) but all the others have been incredible.

"As have these amazing women I’ve been lucky enough to sit alongside, work with, laugh with and on the odd occasions drink with! I will miss working with them and the whole team - and I’m very grateful that they are just next door so that whenever I get nostalgic I know they aren’t too far away."

Last month Josie had to confirm to fans she hasn't quit This Morning. Taking to her Instagram she said: "Alreeet lovers. Just to confirm, I have not left @thismorning I keep getting asked why I've left, so I thought it's easier to clear up the rumour mill on here. I am eternally grateful for all your love and support and I can not thank you enough. JG #squashingrumours."
