Emmerdale's Belle Dingle got quite the fright over the tragic death of a character on their wedding day in a past episode of the ITV soap.

Thursday night's episode saw the character marry her partner Tom King in a lavish ceremony surrounded by drama. But almost 20 years ago, another wedding day ended in tragedy and poor Belle was traumatised as she watched one groom plummet to their death.

Their name? Tom King, 18 years before his grandson Tom King Jr would go on to marry Belle. Back in 2006, Tom Sr was pushed to his death from a window as he prepared to wed his partner, with his killer none other than his son Carl, who happens to be Tom Jr's father.

Back on Christmas Day 2006, Belle watched on in horror and soon screamed out, as Tom fell to his death right in front of her. The Dingles and the Kings were gathered outside the wedding venue, with Belle singing a Christmas tune.

Belle was marched away by her horrified mother Lisa Dingle, trying to get her away from the gory site. Belle was just eight years old at the time, and had no idea that years on she would be having her own wedding, with the grandson of the man she'd just watched die in pretty gruesome scenes.

It's safe to say there's a bit of a curse with the Kings, and with Tom starting to show signs he might be villainous like his father Carl there could be more tragedy on the horizon. Viewers fear controlling Tom will grow more abusive towards Belle and that she could face danger, after it was teased months ago that Tom would bring explosive scenes to the soap.

Tom's father Carl was murdered on Chas Dingle and Dan Spencer's wedding day, while his uncle Matthew King died on his own wedding day too, just like his father Tom. Both these death twists focussed around Carl before his own gruesome demise.

With another King brother, Max, also dying in tragic circumstances, perhaps the scenes with Belle as a child foreshadowed the tragic or dark events to come in her future with husband Tom? Has the King curse continued?

That would be pretty bonkers, but it is soap land after all and as viewers know soaps love a bit of nostalgia, and a link to the past. At least Tom and Belle's wedding went ahead without a death given the past, but if fans are correct then there are worrying scenes ahead.

Viewers are convinced an abuse plot is on the way after recent scenes, not to mention him leaving her injured last year. Tom has been mocking her and putting her down over her family, even cruelly making her feel guilty for missing her late mother on her wedding day, and in upcoming scenes he will continue to humiliate her and manipulate her.
