Conor McGregor has admitted that he used to wear fake watches at the start of his UFC career.

UFC legend McGregor is a watch fanatic and has continued to expand his collection whilst growing his net worth. Some of his most expensive watches include a $2.3million Jacob & Co Rasputin Diamond Minute Repeater and $1.1million Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph.

McGregor even owns a $620,000 watch from Jacob & Co that has an interactive roulette wheel built inside of it. Long before McGregor splashed out millions of dollars on watches, he used to wear fake versions at the press conference for his fights. “I’ve got many great watches," he told GQ Sports.

"You ever hear the term ‘You’ve got to fake it till you make it’. Before anything I was rocking the fake ones like this but proud. Funnily enough, the first ever real watch I got was a gift post UFC Dublin which was in 2013. It was a gift for me from Lorenzo Fertitta who was the former owner of the UFC at the time, he gifted me a solid gold Rolex Sky Dweller.

“I won by knockout in the first round it was a mega successful event, so after the bout, we all went out for dinner with the Fertitta family and then gifted me this Rolex. It was my first real watch, before I was at the press conference watching the fake one but you’ve got to fake it till you make it.

"I used to drive a broke down banger of a car but in my head that was a Ferrari, I was out to almost believe it into reality." McGregor has always credited the law of attraction for his incredible UFC success, as he was inspired by visualisation after reading a 2006 self-help book called 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne.

McGregor is expected to make his highly-anticipated UFC return against Michael Chandler later this year but their fight has faced frequent delays. Both McGregor and Chandler are seemingly raring to go as they have campaigned to fight at UFC 300 in April. A date is yet to be set in stone but McGregor seems to think his fight will take place on June 29.
