Our bodies change every day, so if you notice your body looking fuller due to bloating it is completely "normal", says a fitness influencer.

Even if you have gone the extra mile to have a healthy diet and do regular exercise recently, you may feel disheartened if you don't see a difference in your body. Our bodies fluctuate all the time for several reasons - water retention, and changes in hormone levels during your menstrual cycle.

Gym expert Lizzy High, 22, admitted online it took her a long time to realise how much our bodies can change. Rather than focusing on weight loss to reach her fitness goals, Lizzy, more commonly known as Liz Bites Back on social media, focuses on a balanced and healthy lifestyle and has stopped putting pressure on herself to meet weight goals.

Lizzy shared two images of herself on Instagram - demonstrating how normal it is for our bodies to fluctuate. In one picture she looks a little fuller due to bloating.

Lizzy said: "Not a before or after. Just here to remind you that your body will fluctuate, especially around the time of the month. Your body will hold onto a lot more water retention. So you might feel bloated, you might feel puffy or feel like you're not making any progress.

"But it's a temporary fluctuation, so don't let that dictate how you treat your body." A number of people thanks Lizzy for her openness. One individual said her post is "so important".

Another added: "Others need to see the reality of influencers. So many edit these fluctuations out of their content. It gives folk such a false sense of reality." "Love these words, I go through this every single day," added another.

The NHS reports: "In studies which have investigated the normal changes in body weight in healthy, free-living individuals, a fluctuation of + 1 kg in consecutive days is common, and fluctuations of + 0.5 kg are very common. Numerous factors influence a person's body weight. Individuals have no control over some factors."

Lizzy admitted she was previously "restricting" herself but now her mindset has changed and she feels a lot more confident. A few years back Lizzy was at her thinnest. She wasn't eating enough and as a result, suffered from hair loss and a lot of unhappiness.

At the time Lizzy admitted she was "restricting" herself, whereas now she focuses on nourishing her body. Since her mindset has changed, she looks and feels like a completely different person. She added: "I guess you could say a lot has changed in a few years. A few years ago I was eating under 1,000 calories a day.

"I hated my body and my hair was falling out due to malnourishment. I always went to extremes to see progress - I thought it was the only way. Oh how I was wrong. If anything, it just pushed me further away from where I wanted to be. It wasn't until I educated myself and focused on nourishment rather than restriction that I finally started to create the body and life I had always dreamed of."
