Tiger Woods is out on the course for the first time in his new clothing brand since announcing his split from Nike last month.

Woods will make his first appearance on the PGA Tour this season on Thursday when he tees it up at Riviera Country Club for The Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles, and he will do so wearing his new apparel and accessories range 'Sun Day Red', which is produced by his equipment sponsor TaylorMade.

Woods is playing a practice round at Riviera on Tuesday, and he was pictured on the first tee wearing a black Sun Day Red sweater and a pair of black and red Sun Day Red shoes.

The latter is particularly telling on his split with Nike, with cracks in their 27-year relationship first appearing when Woods changed to FootJoy footwear on the course as he found it more comfortable than Nike's offerings in the wake of his many injuries and surgeries.

The brand has been inspired by the iconic red top that Woods has worn on final round Sundays throughout his career, creating iconic images as he accumulated 15 major titles. All 82 of his professional wins came with the Nike swoosh on his chest and hat, but a new era begins on Thursday.

"I have learned so much over the years and have a lifetime of experience adjusting my apparel and footwear to help me play better based on the way it was constructed," Woods said at the launch of the products on Monday. "There are things that I could tell you that no one knew I was doing over the years. I'm ready to share those secrets with the world.

"Sun Day Red will embody a love of playing and competing, and we are for people that share those values, whether it's on the course, or in life. We will be anchored to putting the athlete first in the product decisions we make."

Woods is part of a star-studded field at Riviera, which is one of the PGA Tour's nominated signature events, with a $20million purse on the line. He will be joined by the likes of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland, with 41 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking in the field.

Woods is also the event host at Riveria, one of the few regular stops on the PGA Tour where he has never won. His involvement this week sees him embark on a limited schedule on tour after undergoing ankle surgery following The Masters last year to address arthritis issues that stemmed from his serious car accident in 2021.

Woods has declared he hopes to play one tournament a month, including majors, if possible, and the Genesis is a chance for fans to see how his game is shaping up ahead of The Masters in April.
