A Disney on Ice skater was severely injured during a performance after a lift went horrible wrong.

Skater Anastasia Olson, was taking part in Minnesota, Minneapolis, show as Belle from 'Beauty and the Beast' with another performer as they attempted a lift - which witnesses said seemed 'shaky' before crashing to the floor around 40 minutes into the show. The 31-year-old remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Images show the moment medics have rushed onto the ice after her fall, with her dancing partner, dressed as the Beast from the Disney classic, nearby. Disney on Ice had been scheduled for performances at the Target Center from Friday to Sunday, according to the arena’s website Feld Entertainment, which produces Disney on Ice, said in a statement: "She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Disney On Ice appreciates the well wishes from our fans as our team member recovers."

The performer was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and is in a critical but stable condition while the extent of her injuries is not yet known. A shocking video of the incident shows Belle appearing to seize while lying on the ice, as medics rush to her side. Disney on Ice expressed gratitude for the well wishes from fans as their team member recovers.

An audience member who took her children to the performance, told news outlet : "They were doing a lift, it appeared shaky and she fell. I am beyond grateful and thankful for the remaining staff and the performers who kept going because that preserves the magic for the kids. I know that has to have been very difficult.”

Before the accident, local newspaper Novi Note spoke with the Michigan native about her performance as Belle in the Magic in the Stars show. 'Our show, "Magic in the Stars," is really a wonderful kind of show that reaches out to everybody, not just kids and families, but I feel that there is something for everyone to see. It really is a wonderful show,' said Olson.

The company has confirmed that future shows will continue as planned.
