We're all for experimenting with new flavours, but this pancake topping is a step too far.

It's that time again for the sugar and lemon to come out as Pancake Day is upon us. As households up and down Britain will be flipping their pancakes for breakfast this morning, it's a real treat.

There are so many different variations of toppings, so whether you prefer the simple sugar and lemon or you reach for the Nutella, it's a personal choice. However, some may opt for something a little more unusual - but be prepared to cause a debate around the table. One man did just this, and his friends are "disgusted" - with some even going as far as to say he should be locked up for it.

Sport commentator Ian Abrahams, known as Moose, shared a photo of his annual Pancake on X, formerly known as Twitter, in 2019, as he controversially covered it in tuna and rolled it up. Yep, that's right - tuna. Understandably people were disgusted by his unusual filling and were quick to comment but he called it "delicious" followed by a smiling face emoji. He stated that pancakes and tuna "go well together" much to the horror of social media users.

One horrified user replied: "That looks awful! Wouldn't feed it the dog!" While a second wrote: "Moose you need locking up for this mate," to which Moose proudly replied: "Have it every year." Another begged: "Please tell me you are joking?" To which he simply responded: "Nope".

If you don't fancy copying Ian's weird pancake, here are a few other suggestions you could try.

  • Ice cream and peaches
  • Honey, yoghurt and blueberries
  • Jam
  • Peanut butter and banana
  • Plum & Spiced Apple Pancakes

If you're going to join in the pancake fun this year, people are just realising you can cook them in your air fryer and they easily whip up some gloriously fluffy pancakes.

A pancake tutorial video posted by appliance brand Currys went viral on TikTok last year as their unusual technique has people seriously mind-blown. Others have taken to the social media app to try the hack themselves, with great success. The popular video shows a pancake fan laying down various sheets of baking paper on the bottom of the air fryer basket, before pouring a small amount of pancake mix on top. The foodie then proceeds to add another layer of paper and repeats the process over and over, until the air fryer is full.

The end result shows perfectly plump, American-style pancakes with a golden colour on top. The pancakes are then stacked into a mouth-watering pile before being drizzled with a generous amount of chocolate sauce and sprinkles.
