The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl with a thrilling touchdown in the final seconds of overtime, but the night belonged to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, the billion-dollar couple taking NFL to a whole new audience.
Their kiss on the pitch just before Chiefs tight end Travis lifted the Lombardi Trophy might not have thrilled all the “dad, Brads and Chads” as NFL fans are known, but it was the happy ending Swifties dreamed of.
Their pop idol had raced against time to see her man in action against the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII, jetting 5,500 miles to Las Vegas after playing a gig in Tokyo.
If she was jet lagged, Taylor didn’t show it as she watched the game from a £1million suite with friends, including actress Blake Lively, rapper Ice Spice, singer Lana Del Rey, and Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney.

After Mecole Hardman’s touchdown gave the Chiefs their second Super Bowl in a row, Taylor and Travis celebrated on the pitch and carried on partying into the early hours at Zouk nightclub.

Since going public with their relationship in September, when Taylor started attending games, TV ratings for NFL matches have risen by 9%.
Sunday’s game was expected to top last year’s ratings record of 114.2 million viewers, in part thanks to her.
She is estimated to have boosted Chiefs and NFL brands by £260million, thanks to her fans buying replica shirts. Female support for the NFL increased 11% last year.
Taylor herself has noted how the “dads, Brads and Chads” are unimpressed by the amount of time the cameras focus on her during games.
At one match, she was booed, and could be seen mouthing that she had expected the backlash.
But for some people in America, the Taylor and Travis – known as TNT – romance is beyond belief.
A Fox News host suggested the relationship could be “a front for a covert political agenda”, triggering conspiracy theories online that the couple are faking the romance ahead of the upcoming US election, when Taylor is expected to back Democrat Joe Biden, who she endorsed in 2020.

Taylor was seen downing a drink on the big screenThe Pentagon had to issue an exasperated statement confirming: “Taylor Swift is not part of a DOD [Department of Defence] psychological operation.”
Watching the game, Donald Trump said Taylor’s support of Biden would be “disloyal” to him personally, as he had implemented a change in copyright law which meant he was “the man who made her so much money”.
Trump posted: “Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis. Even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me.”

Travis has welcomed jokes that his girlfriend has put him “on the map”. A huge star in his own right, he is worth £32m to Taylor’s £1billion.
Unfazed, he winked at the camera in an opening montage, referencing Taylor’s 2017 single Ready For It?, asking viewers: “Are you ready for it?”
Taylor has been wearing a bracelet with TNT on it, and experts say the couple could soon be bigger than the Beckham brand. Talent agency boss Prof Jonathan Shalit said: “Someone is probably writing a movie script now of the Taylor, Travis love story.
“They are one of the most exciting hook-ups in recent years. They can out-Becks Posh and Becks. Together, they are a multi-billion-dollar brand already – it’s remarkable.”
At the Super Bowl, Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes was named the Most Valuable Player. But tennis star Andy Murray summed up the mood of the occasion, posting: “Congrats to Taylor Swift on winning Super Bowl 58 – a stunning performance.”
