Patrick Mahomes' Tom Brady vow after making history at Super Bowl LVIII
Patrick Mahomes has shown his humility despite being named Super Bowl MVP for two consecutive years, becoming the first player to do so in over 40 years - though he's keen to move on and draw inspiration from fellow NFL legend, Tom Brady.
Mahomes had another memorable night at the Super Bowl, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to victory with a standout performance. In his fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years, he further cemented his place among the NFL greats.
He finished the game with impressive stats: 34-for-46 passing, 333 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. But it was his exceptional throw to Mecole Hardman that sealed a close 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
His performance saw Mahomes became the first player since Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1979 and 1980 to be named Super Bowl MVP in back-to-back years.
Last year, Mahomes won the MVP award after a spirited comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles. Before that, he was also named MVP in 2020 for his performance against the 49ers, which earned him the first of his three Super Bowl rings.

Questions are now being asked if Patrick Mahomes is on his way to match the success of Brady, who is often hailed as the greatest quarterback of all time with seven Super Bowl wins. The Chiefs star is keen to follow in Brady's footsteps and maintain success over the years. After Sunday's win, he declared: "I mean, I'm gonna celebrate tonight. I'm gonna celebrate at the parade.

So, it's ongoing thing in the NFL, I think Tom [Brady] said it best once you win that championship and you have those parades and you get those rings, you're not the champion anymore," he added.
"You have to come back with that same mentality, and I learned from guys like that, that have been the greatest of all time at the top of the level and so that's my mindset. I'm gonna celebrate with my guys because of how we've done this but then we're gonna work our way to get back to this game next year."
In a chat with CBS, he made it clear that the Chiefs are aiming to become the next big thing in the NFL. He said: "It's the start of [a dynasty]. We are not done."
