Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has played down the bust-up between him and Travis Kelce during the Super Bowl LVIII 25-22 victory over San Francisco 49ers.

During his post-match interviews on CBS, Reid was asked about the incident. The normally quiet Reid didn't say too much about the situation, suggesting both men are just passionate competitors.

"He keeps me young," Reid cheekily told the NFL on CBS team, causing them to chuckle. "He tested that hip. He caught me off balance - normally I'd give him a little bit but you know what, I didn't have any feet under me."

The drama unfolded in the second quarter with the Chiefs down 3-0. Patrick Mahomes threw an impressive 52-yard pass to Mecole Hardman, placing the team within touchdown range. After Mahomes' pass, Pacheco was given the ball. However, 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenior managed to knock the ball out of the running back's hands, forcing a fumble.

As the ball remained free, 49ers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave landed it, giving the 49ers the possession back. Then came the moment that sparked controversy. Having opted to remove Kelce from the game, the tight end was left furious with Reid.

Kelce stormed up to the head coach and shouted in his face, causing him to stagger a bit. While Kelce was shouting at Reid, the 65-year-old closed his eyes and waited until he stopped. Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon had to step in, leading the heated Kelce away from Reid so the tight end could regain his composure and focus on the game.

After reaching the sideline, Pacheco was seen apologising to his teammates and coaching staff for allowing the ball to get free and putting the Chiefs in a difficult position after the team had worked so hard to get an opportunity to score.

When Kelce had his outburst on the sideline, the star had just one catch for 1 yard. Come fulltime, Kelce had 93 yards on nine receptions, leading the team in receiving yards.
