LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has sounded an ominous warning to his PGA Tour rivals by declaring his confidence ahead of The Masters.

DeChambeau is one of a limited number of players on the Saudi-funded tour still eligible for the Augusta showcase. Only DeChambeau, Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka remain high enough in the rankings to qualify, with six other former winners now with LIV Golf also holding lifetime exemptions.

Just two months remain until golf dawns on Augusta National for the biggest event on the calendar, and all eyes are likely to remain on DeChambeau and his fellow LIV Golf players after their high-profile defections from the PGA Tour.

They will inevitably field questions about returning to the more traditional format after focusing on 54-hole LIV Golf events with shotgun starts. But DeChambeau is far from concerned about how he will fare.

He confidently declared ahead of LIV Golf Las Vegas that he will have a “great week” at The Masters and he is already extremely excited to prove a point in the first major of the year.

“I got equipment that’ll serve me well as my golf swing is doing well,” DeChambeau said when asked about The Masters. “I’m going to have a great week. I’m looking forward to that tremendously.”

DeChambeau's confidence made perfect sense as he lit up The Las Vegas Country Club on Day Two of LIV Golf's second event of the year. Just two days after his confident comments to Mirror Sport, he posted a 62 to enter the final day tied with Dustin Johnson for the lead on -11.

Nevertheless, DeChambeau has put his individual targets to one side when it comes to the LIV Golf season. He insists his main focus is on his Crushers GC and their fortunes in the team competition, which he knows is vital to set LIV apart from the PGA Tour.

Asked about his goals this season ahead of LIV Golf Las Vegas, DeChambeau told Mirror Sport: “Definitely finish well in the individual standings, but I want to continue our team form as well.

“LIV is about team golf, and I think the more we can get people to understand that, the better success we’ll have.

“We have the individual component which is great, but it’s the team stuff that really makes me get up in the morning. I love playing for my team, fighting for my teammates and we have great camaraderie, so I just love everything about it.”
