Former NFL star O.J. Simpson is reportedly battling prostate cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Nevada.

According to Local 10 News, the disgraced former Buffalo Bills player has told friends he's heard rumors about himself that include receiving end-of-life care in a hospice. However, he has denied those claims.

The 76-year-old was quoted as saying: "Hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice?" and "No, I'm not in any hospice, I don't know who put that out there. But whoever put that out there, I guess it's like the Donald [Trump] says, 'You can't trust the media'.

He also added: "In any event, I'm hosting a tonne of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas and all is well. Take care and have a good Super Bowl weekend." Simpson was a huge star in America when he started his NFL career as the No. 1 overall pick to the Buffalo Bills in 1969.

After his football career, Simpson moved into acting, appearing in films and TV shows. However, in 1994, he was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, who were found stabbed to death outside her Los Angeles home.

Simpson pleaded not guilty and after a high-profile trial that lasted nearly a year, he was cleared of the charges by a jury. However, a civil lawsuit from the victims' families found him responsible for wrongful death and battery, ordering him to pay $33.5 million in damages.

In 2008, Simpson faced robbery charges, accused of storming a Las Vegas casino-hotel with a group of men in 2007 and stealing sports memorabilia at gunpoint. After a month-long trial, Simpson and his co-defendants were found guilty on all counts.

He was sentenced to 33 years in prison, with the chance of parole after nine years. He was granted parole in 2017 and released from parole in 2021 due to good behaviour. Simpson, who used to live in Florida, now resides in a gated community in Vegas, where he often plays golf.
