'Aggressive' couple seen 'shouting racial abuse' at fellow Wetherspoons punters

Police have released CCTV images of a couple they would like to speak to in connection with an incident of alleged racial abuse at a Wetherspoons pub.

The alleged incident took place at The Buck Inn in Northallerton on Monday, January 22, when a couple were heard shouting racial abuse at other customers and asked to leave the premises after growing increasingly aggressive, North Yorkshire Police said.

A spokesperson confirmed police are treating the incident as a public order offence and a hate crime. Officers believe a man and woman pictured on CCTV may have information that could help the investigation.

Describing the incident, a force spokesperson said: "A couple were heard shouting racial abuse at other customers. When they were asked to leave they became aggressive."
