Imagine the look on the groom’s face when his wife-to-be read out numerous messages from his mistress on their special day while their family and friends looked on in horror.

A bride’s wedding day should be one of the most special of her life as she exchanges her vows with the partner of her dreams and the person she has decided to spend the rest of her life with, witnessed by all their nearest and dearest.

This should have been the case for one excited woman who believed she had found ‘the one’ as soon as they met six years previously. Their families became friends and their lives were intertwined. She believed they would live “happily ever after” right up until the night before their wedding when her whole world came crashing down..

As is tradition, bride-to-be Casey, who changed both the betrothed’s names when she shared her story with bodyandsoul, was spending her last night as an unmarried woman with her bridesmaids at a hotel and apart from her fiancé Alex. The girls were having fun and enjoying a drink when Casey’s phone buzzed, as it had been all evening with messages of luck for the next day.

But when she opened this message Casey was horrified to see its contents. It was a series of screenshots from an anonymous woman and a number she didn’t recognise with the chilling words: “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?”

The screenshots were of messages between this woman and Casey’s soon-to-be-husband and included selfies of the pair as well. The messages went back months and the most recent were only a few days before. She didn’t doubt the legitimacy of them and was appalled at their content.

She shared a few of them with the site. They read: "Your body is f*****g incredible. And s**t do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do. / I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before. / This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game."

Naturally she was devastated over what she had seen and broke down, with her girls "threatening all manner of violence towards him". They wanted her to call Alex and confront him but she decided to sleep on it as she loved him and wanted to marry him the next day.

However after a night of little rest, she told her friends she was going to ‘out’ him in front of all their guests. Casey donned her dress which now felt like "just a costume", walked down the aisle and came face to face with her groom, who could clearly tell something was up by the look on her face.

Casey announced that there would be no wedding because Alex was not who she thought he was: "A ripple of shock went through the crowd and Alex tried to grab my hands but I put down my flowers to reveal my phone in my hand," she recalled. "I read every single message she sent me. With each word, more colour left Alex’s face."

The disgraced groom didn’t say a word and left the room with his best man trailing behind. Casey told their guests she loved them and instead of a wedding reception they would all enjoy "a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts." What followed was thankfully "one hell of a party".
