UEFA Nations League draw as England to face Republic of Ireland in 2024

England will face Republic of Ireland in the 2024-25 iteration of the UEFA Nations League after the draw was made in Paris tonight.

The Three Lions are in League B having suffered the ignominy of relegation in the previous campaign, where they are joined by Wales, who'll play Iceland, Montengro, Turkey.

Scotland are the highest ranked home nation and sit in League A among some of the continent's big-hitters, and they'll face Croatia, Portugal and Poland. Northern Ireland, meanwhile, are in League C are will face Luxembourg, Bulgaria, and Belarus.

Fixtures will take place in international breaks across September, October and November this year, with the finals being held in the summer of 2025.

When will fixtures be confirmed?

We'll learn the dates and times for each Nations League fixture tomorrow.

All we know so far is is that for League A, B and C, group matches will take place in September, October and November - two per month.

The quarter-final stage and the play-offs between League A and B as well as League B and C will take place in March.

Rice and Grealish set to face frosty reception

Declan Rice and Jack Grealish, who represented the Republic of Ireland at senior and youth international level respectively, could be set for a torrid time in Dublin.

The England duo aren't fondly remebered for their switch of allegience, especially given their success at club level.

The Three Lions were last in Dublin for a forgettable 0-0 draw in June 2015.

Jamie Vardy made his international debut, replacing Wayne Rooney as a second-half substitute.

England's last game away to the Republic of Ireland led to the Lansdowne Road riots.

The friendly match was abandoned after 27 minutes, with Ireland leading 1-0.
