A furious homeowner has been caught on camera berating a Tesco delivery driver - for parking his van outside his home.

When the delivery driver parked beside the man's driveway, the disgruntled bloke was unable to turn his car into the space. In the footage shared online, the driver can be heard explaining to the homeowner he is barely encroaching on the entranceway, but this doesn't seem to satisfy the pensioner, who unleashes a verbal volley of abuse.

The clip begins with the pair standing outside the man's home, understood to be a London suburb, exchanging points of view. As the video plays, the Tesco courier can be heard explaining the situation and detailing the accusation before showing where his van is parked.

The Tesco van is parked mere millimetres over the dropped kerb that allows the homeowner access to his drive - although a motorist should have more than enough room to turn into the space seen.

The van driver says: "You were complaining that I blocked your driveway, and I haven't." However, the man can't finish a sentence before the fuming motorist interjects, stating: "I got you the £80 fine, you're on my drive."

The Tesco driver calmly listens to the man's complaint before pointing out that his van is parked parallel to the man's brick wall and is in fact not stopping him from accessing his driveway. He says: "Fella, your driveway ends there."

Whilst the Tesco driver seems happy to end the situation and go about his day, the homeowner refuses and continues to berate the worker. Stepping towards a dip in the pavement, the man says: "No my friend, but as soon as it sinks that's my drive, okay? Go on the internet and check it."

This request from the homeowner leaves the Tesco driver holding back a chuckle as he repeats: "Go on the internet and check your driveway?" Seemingly keen to end the strange stand-off, the van driver explains that he's in the process of finishing a drop off, but his comments fall on unsympathetic ears.

He says: "I'm currently unloading a van." The homeowner rapidly replies: "I don't care, I asked you nicely, can you move back a bit so I can swing in." At this stage, it appears that the homeowner has already successfully parked their car outside his front door, rendering his argument invalid.

The Tesco worker is keen to make this point clear to the now irate man, saying: "You swung in." The homeowner seems to be struggling to contain his rage and bears the brunt towards the innocent van driver who is told of other motorists that have annoyed the man.

The homeowner then launches into a foul-mouthed tirade against one of his neighbour's cars, fuming: "I've got that c*** there as well, parked there for f*ing ten months, I'm sick of it."

Whilst staying calm, the delivery driver queries how long the man has been driving before being given a cheeky reply. The homeowner informs him: "[I've been driving] longer than you've been born mate." The Tesco worker asks: "So, why can't you make that turn?"

The goatee-sporting elderly man holds his hands to his head and fumes: "Why would I go out of my way when you can just move forward a bit?" The homeowner, dressed in a checked shirt and chinos, then spins away to return to his home leaving the girl with him to dish out a final piece of abuse to the driver.

She asks: "Why the f*** are you recording?" The video was shared to social media on Tuesday with the caption: "Tesco delivery driver gets asked to move his van for 'blocking' someone's driveway."

The clip received more than 270 likes with dozens of comments from social media users who were left confused over the homeowner's actions. One said: "You could get a column of WW2 Panzer tanks through that gap." Another added: "These sorts of people annoy me the most, there's no issue, you can get your car out and Tescos will be gone within five minutes."

A third replied: "Ignore him and crack on making the delivery, that annoys them even more." Another commented: "I don't know how he kept his cool whilst arguing with the old man whilst the busybody of a daughter is stood there holding her dog." The Mirror has approached Tesco for comment.

In the United Kingdom, there are no criminal sanctions if someone chooses to park on your driveway as it would be viewed as a civil matter meaning the car owner would be asked - not forced - to leave.
