Scott Weintrob praised Harvey Keitel's acting in upcoming film Paradox Effect

An upcoming British director is making waves stateside and is set to join an illustrious club alongside Quentin Tarantino with his debut release.

Scott Weintrob has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Rihanna, Offset and Cardi B, but he's now set to showcase his talents on the big screen. Scott is making his directorial debut on the soon-to-be released film Paradox Effect, and it's a star-studded project that sees him follow in legendary footsteps.

Paradox Effect, which also stars Olga Kurylenko, tells the story of an ex junkie who witnesses a murder and is forced to cooperate with the killer if she wants to save her daughter's life. She embarks on a murky journey in a battle against not only the criminal underworld but also the police as she desperately tries to save the only person who matters to her. Harvey takes on the role as bad guy gang boss Silvio.

The film features Hollywood star Harvey Keitel - who also starred in Quentin's debut film, the iconic Reservoir Dogs. The huge star was also part of the cast for Ridley Scott's first feature film (The Duallists) and Martin Scorsese's first flick in 1967 titled Who's That Knocking at My Door. With such accolades, Scott recognises the elusive group he is set to become a part of.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Scott said: "Harvey Keitel is a legend. This is my first movie and you have to remember all the first time directors he's worked with. There are so many and he is very supportive of first time filmmakers if he likes the work they've done."

He continued to describe how he initially grabbed the actor's attention after writing scenes for him in the run-up to him joining his film. Scott labelled Harvey a "blessing" to work with and joked that the only downside of having him on set was his amazing stories that gripped the crew. Opening up further about working with him, Scott added: "He expects you to be at a certain level to be there. He does the movie because he believes in you.

"Harvey is an actor and you have to approach him correctly. You have to build the character together. You have to set the scene for each shot. This is a film that was shot in 18 days. You cannot rush someone like Harvey. If you want to rush him and put him into an uncomfortable mindset, you won't get the best out of him so you have to be very thoughtful about how you position his character and how you give him the space to be beautiful."

Scott was also full of praise for Olga, who plays the main character, Karina. "Olga is a wonderful actress," he gushed. "She is incredibly professional and has a process. Everything is discussed before you get to set and when you're there, you work. This was a perfect role for her."

Explaining the project in more detail, Scott admitted he loved the script when he first read it, but had to make changes as it was initially produced to be filmed in America but ended up being shot in southern Italy.

It was first premiered at Rome Film Festival last year and was introduced by Gerard Butler. At the event, Oliver Trevena, who stars as Covek in the production, won the Best Newcomer award.

Paradox Effect is set to be released later this year.
