Sugababes say they're not like other bands as they tease big Glasto appearance
Sugababes star Mutya Buena has revealed what separates the group from other bands and teased a big festival appearance.
The original lineup, consisting of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy reformed in 2011 under the stage name MKS following a series of lineup changes. But over a decade on and having legally regained the Sugababes name, the group's still smashing barriers.
Having formed in 1998 aged just 13, Keisha, Siobhán, and Mutya instantly became a hit following the release of their debut single, Overload, in 2000. Since they reformed, their popularity has continued to soar, with performances at Glastonbury and Tramlines Festival, they admit their success has been beyond their wildest dreams.

She said: "I think we are so, so grateful, the goal as an artist people think is a Number One but it's about longevity. This is the stuff of dreams, to have your music do so well all these years later. Even back then when we did Overload, we didn't realise the impact it was going to have at the time but we're so glad our music is timeless. We're so grateful and humble."
Meanwhile, Siobhán added: "Some songs just stand the test of time. It's amazing that some artists are allowed the opportunity to still be around and be relevant." Mutya went on to say: "We're very, very blessed to be in this situation and to be here today, receiving this amazing award and being recognised for what we've been doing for the last couple of years… Or, 25 years!"
Sugababes confirm they are working on a brand new album
In 2022 the group shut down the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury Festival, with security declaring it unsafe for more music lovers to enter after thousands of fans descended on the tent. But can we expect to see them on a bigger stage this year? Keisha teased: "Maybe, you never know," while Mutya joked: "You never know!"
But on their time back together, despite various lineup changes, Mutya says she's happier than ever and having the "most fun". She said: "For me personally, I'm having the most fun ever, I feel like this is our time." However, almost three decades into their career, the group hasn't always had a positive reaction.
"There are so many opinions, especially when you go through the artist development stage," said Siobhán before adding: "I feel like the Sugababes are special because we dodged a lot of that. We only had one day of media training, although that was really obvious. At least it's real and authentic, when we go into writing, even last week, we talk about what we feel passionately about, whether that's politically or our love lives or whatever, we want to keep it real and relate to the people. "
Fans have been demanding new music since the release of their 2023 single When the Rain Comes, Donaghy revealed that fans might not have to wait too long. "I don't know when, but yeah," she said when grilled about releasing new material. Mutya teased: "Soon baby, soon!"
