The Sugababes have teased that brand new music will be released by the group before the end of the year - and before their upcoming arena performance at London’s O2.

The original members of the iconic band - Mutya Buena, 37, Keisha Buchanan, 38, and Siobhan Donaghy - stunned fans last year when they shock released an album titled The Lost Tapes.

The album was the first Sugababes album in 12 years - and was the second ever album to feature the voices of Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan since their 2000 debut.

The album release reportedly sparked a music label bidding war to snap the group back up - and now Mutya claims she and her bandmates are preparing to record new music which will be unleashed later this year.

The Sugababes are set to hit the road this summer with a number of festival performances leading up to a headline performance at London’s O2 arena on Friday 15 September.

Speaking to The Sun, Mutya said: “With The O2, I can’t give too much away but there will be some new tracks there.

“At this precise moment we’re just concentrating on the festivals first and then getting our O2 things together.”

It’s not the first time the newly re-formed band have suggested they will be making a new album - just months after The Lost Tapes was released.

Appearing on BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room series back in February, 38-year-old Siobhán said: “Now we can get on with the stuff that really matters – the music.

“Keisha’s back in London so we just need to find some time in the studio.”

Keisha was said to have relocated back to the UK from Canada in order to complete new music with the band.

While back in December, reports were ignited that the group would be re-signed to a record label after their Lost Tapes album rocketed up the music charts -reaching number 2 on the iTunes chart hours after release.

A source had said last December: “There are lots of Nineties and Noughties acts which reunite and it’s a bit cheesy and full of nostalgia, but the original Sugababes are actually cool, credible artists.

“The reaction from fans proves they are really a viable act to have huge success with new music.

“They have some great ideas for songs and reckon they can win over a whole new generation of Sugababes fans.

“The hope is that they will sign to a label at the beginning of the year and have new music out at some point in the next 12 months.”
