Mum's Nespresso coffee pod hack lets you reuse them 'time and time again'
A mum has been hailed a 'genius' for her coffee capsule trick that allows her to reuse the same pods time and time again. Many of us can't start our day without a morning espresso or an 11am frothy cappuccino, whether it's made from instant coffee or bean-to-cup coffee machines. But for those who use coffee pods, like Nespresso, there's one big annoyance - the cost of constantly buying new pods and the fact that some can't be recycled.
However, one savvy parent has come up with a brilliant hack to ensure you never run out of coffee or have to spend a fortune. Instagram user Emily H, who posts under the name @momma_farmhouse, shared a video of her ingenious method, captioning it: "Because I'm bougie just on a budget!"
The video, which had the words "Me refusing to pay $40 (£32) for a box of Nespresso pods" splashed across it, showed Emily's technique for reusing a coffee pod. After using a capsule, she peels off the lid, empties out the ground coffee inside, and gives it a good wash.
She then refills each pod with ground coffee, filling it right up to the top before securely fastening an aluminium foil lid over the top - making it almost as good as new. Once it's ready, simply pop it into your coffee machine and enjoy your coffee just like you would with a fresh Nespresso pod.

Commenting on her video, one person said: "Love this! I make my new pods every week with the old capsules and fill them with my favorite coffee." Another said: "That's kinda genius", and someone else said: "I don't even have one of these machines and I'm saving just because this is genius and the algorithm needs everyone to see."
Someone else asked: "Please tell me it worked? I was gifted one and I can't afford the capsules. We usually buy Starbucks whole beans and grind them for our regular machine but sometimes I would want to use my machine for convenience. Also because I got it for free and no one wants to buy it since the capsules are expensive."
But not everyone thinks it's a good idea. Another comment was: "The only big difference I see is that Nespresso's are hermetically sealed to ensure freshness (survive an apocalypse) and the hand-sealed one will degrade quicker when it comes to flavor. But go off on saving money."
