The Princess of Wales always looks glamorous when she appears in front of a crowd, but back in 2019 royal fans were concerned when she reportedly felt sick after the annual Trooping the Colour parade.

Every year since marrying Prince William and becoming part of the Royal Family, Kate has enjoyed a rather glamorous form of transport to get from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade for and back as part of the Sovereign's Birthday Parade. But back in 2019 the horse-drawn carriage ride didn't go as smoothly, as she reportedly started feeling unwell due to a lesser-known illness she suffers from.

Kate was sitting in the carriage alongside Queen Camilla, who was then the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they travelled to and from the military event in June.

Some wondered why she looked at times a little off-colour and not her usually smiley self. However, the Mirror revealed that it was in fact the carriage ride that left Kate feeling somewhat sick due to the swaying motion. The late Queen also suffered seasickness too – despite sailing in the Royal Yacht Britannia for 43 years – and recommended her favourite pills to Kate.

A royal source said at the time: "The truth is the Duchess of Cambridge gets very seasick and doesn't enjoy the rocking motion of carriages. Worrying she may be ill on such an important occasion as Trooping the Colour added to her stress."

Kate is currently recovering at her home in Windsor after a 13-day stay in hospital, after having a scheduled abdominal surgery at The London Clinic. The operation took place on January 17, but the exact details of the princess's condition have not been revealed, although it was said previously it was not cancer-related.

A statement from Kensington Palace said: "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress. The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."
