A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a passenger was pushed onto tube tracks at a busy London Underground station.

Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses after the incident at Oxford Circus Underground Station on Saturday.

Detectives from British Transport Police attended the station at around 3pm following reports that a man had pushed another man on the tracks. A 25-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

Brave members of the public helped the victim up off the tracks before the tube arrived at the station. He did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of the attack. Witnesses on the platform who assisted the man and anyone else who may have witnessed the incident or events leading up to it are urged to contact police.
