Mexican soap legend Helena Rojo dies from cancer as heartbroken fans pay tribute
Mexican actress Helen Rojo has died at the age of 79 after being diagnosed with liver cancer.
Fans of the soap actress expressed their sadness as many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to pay tribute to the legendary soap star. Helen passed away at her home in Mexico City, according to TV network Foro TV. The mother of three left behind her husband Benjamín Fernández. Confirmation of her death was made by journalist María Luisa Valdés Doria who wrote that Helen lost her life on February 3. The post read: "I confirm the death of the great Helena Rojo, she died at 3 in the morning of cancer, she will be buried at her home... rest in peace."
Taking to social media, one fan wrote: "Strength for your family. May God keep you in his Holy glory." Another person said: "Rest in peace beautiful and talented actress...my respects and sincere condolences to your family." And a third commented: "I can't believe it... A shame, strength to her family." Meanwhile a fourth person said: "How unfortunate, beautiful and with a bearing!!!"
The late star was one of the most successful actresses on Mexican TV but started her extensive career as a model during the sixties. Helen was recognised for her work by a number of awards including the Ariel Awards for Best Actress. Making her film debut in 1970 on The Suicide Club, the role that generated critical acclaim was when she played Luciana Duval in "El Privilegio de Amar" also known as The Privilege of Love. In 2006, she appeared in Vidas de Fuego which was featured on the comedy drama series Ugly Betty, starring as Patricia Rivera.
One of Helen's most popular TV shows was Love that Deceives.
