Erik ten Hag wants answers from Man Utd board after transfer plea was ignored
Erik ten Hag's future could hinge on how much money he is given to spend by Manchester United this summer.
The Dutchman is unfazed by suggestions that he could be sacked and that results over the next four months will decide whether new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe allows him to serve the final 12 months of his three-year contract.
However, he wants answers on whether he will be given money to spend on new players after his plea to sign a striker during the January transfer window was ignored.
Ten Hag feels there has been a lack of consistent backing in the transfer market to reshape the squad he inherited - despite being handed £400million since leaving Ajax to become United boss 18 months ago.
Reports in Holland suggest that the 54-year-old is already in his “final months” at the club. And when Ten Hag was asked last week whether he had opened negotiations with Ratcliffe’s INEOS group about a new contract beyond 2025, he refused to comment.

United have the option of triggering a 12-month extension next year. Ten Hag feels his team over-achieved last season when they finished third in the Premier League, won the Carabao Cup and were beaten in the final of the FA Cup.
A succession of injuries to key players have wrecked his hopes of building on that success. And he has also had to deal with huge disciplinary issues involving Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, Jason Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

But they made it clear to Ten Hag that he couldn't even make a loan signing last month despite losing Anthony Martial through injury.
It isn't the first time the Dutchman has been left frustrated. He was disappointed that United didn’t offer the £75million Barcelona were asking for his No 1 target Frankie de Jong during his first summer in charge.
And the club's refusal to mount a bid for Harry Kane last year was another big blow when the England striker moved from Tottenham to Bayern Munich for £100 million.
Last year, United signed Burnley flop Wout Weghorst on loan and this summer were forced to bring in Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina. Ten Hag could be a target for Bayer Leverkusen in the summer if they lose coach Xabi Alonso to Liverpool.
He still owns a house close to the German border and became a big admirer of the Bundesliga when he was reserve-team coach at Bayern Munich.
