The Masked Singer fans rumble Dippy Egg's identity and link to Davina McCall

Dippy Egg sang for a chance to stay in the competition tonight - but who's behind the breakfast-themed mask on The Masked Singer

Dippy Egg has been rumbled as a famous presenter with a connection to Davina McCall on The Masked Singer.

Fans are convinced they've worked out who the celebrity behind Dippy Egg might be, and they believe it could be Nicky Campbell. Nicky is actually a good friend of Davina, having appeared alongside her hosting Long Lost Family.

One wrote: "Still saying Dippy Egg is Nicky Campbell #TheMaskedSinger," as a second added: "Joining my mum with guessing Dippy Egg is Nicky Campbell. I can't work out the clues but the voice does sound like it could be him. #MaskedSingerUK."

A third shared: " #TheMaskedSinger That sounds like Nicky Campbell," with a fourth writing: "Why the f*** am I crying over someone dressed as a dippy egg singing moon river I think its Nicky Campbell #MaskedSingerUK."

In their previous clues, Dippy Egg described themselves as "hard on the outside, but soft in the middle", whilst the person said they were working with animals regularly and were also shown down on a farm. Elsewhere, they also gave the judges a riddle that read: "I have just performed therefore I am frazzled, but it’s not the first time that I have done dazzled."

Back in 2014, Davina admitted she was "mildly terrified" of him and feared he'd quiz her on the news.

She said; "I was mildly terrified of Nicky. When the production company said, 'We'd like you to present Long Lost Family with him because he was adopted,' I was like, 'Oh my God! Are you kidding me? The man can crucify you with one word. He's so intelligent and scary!' The day of our first meeting I read a newspaper cover to cover to try to be up to date with my current affairs so if he did throw me a question on Afghanistan I'd know what to say. But there was not one mention of the day's news. He was the loveliest man, emotionally intelligent and not bullish at all. I thought, 'Isn't that funny? He has to be like that on his programme.'"

Unbeknownst to her, Nicky was also feeling nervous. He added of their first meeting: "The first time I met Davina I was so nervous I sat there with my arms crossed. One of the ITV executives who was with us said to me, 'Nicholas! Uncross your arms.' She's such a TV legend; you just have to say her first name and everybody knows who she is."
