Mum says she gave girl name that sounds like an STD - but it's not what it seems
One woman’s viral video has gone unnoticed as a prank as she tells millions she has called her daughter a name that sounds very similar to a common sexually transmitted infection.
There is no evidence of “Clydia”, on Kass Theaz’s TikTok page, and her video is captioned #Satire but this seems to have gone over many viewers' heads as the comment section blew up with TikTok users trying to grapple with why a mother would give her daughter such a problematic name.
In Kass’s video, she responds to Saloujo’s comment, who wrote “What a horrible name”. This came after Kass made another video claiming her daughter is called Clydia Dorris. One commenter helpfully pointed out: “Clydia the cli-Doris.”
The TikTok which has now amassed 14.6 million views and almost half a million likes, starts with Kass insisting “Clydia is a beautiful name and I’m tired of everyone making fun of it.” Kass added: “I named my daughter Clydia because I’ve always loved the name Lydia but I have a ‘k’ [sounding] name. My name is Kass …so I was like want my daughter to have a ‘k’ sound at the beginning of her name.”
“So I was like how about I just add a ‘C’ at the beginning of Lydia - so her name is Clydia. So I thought that that really flowed off the tongue well and so I went with it.”

Kass then offered that this name does not fare her daughter well in the playground, and blamed this on poor parenting. She said: “She’s made fun of a lot at school. And I'm wondering, why are these kids so mean? It’s a name it's a beautiful name.”
The supposed mother claimed shock at the treatment of her innocently named daughter. She spoke to her camera in her car saying: “And now I'm realising after posting these TikToks about her I’m realising that they're learning to bully their daughter from their parents because these adults on this app are rude. I cannot believe how disrespectful people can be.”

Kass even said she is considering changing her own name to Clydia. She said: “Clydia is a beautiful name convince me otherwise. I’m considering changing my name to Clydia that's how much I like that name.”
The 60.2k comments seemed to join in on the joke, with some commenters talking about how this is the best comments section they’ve ever seen. Rosanna said: “That is a beautiful name. Maybe we can arrange a play date with Clydia and my son, Johnoreah.” Lucy wrote: “I got clydia in my first year of uni.”
Chris C said: “I have a Clydia in my family!!! But then after a round of antibiotics, she disappeared.” Whilst one user, laesei said: “Me too, my sons name is Colin oscar P.”
