Television presenter Jonnie Irwin has died following a brave battle against cancer - leaving behind his wife and their three children.

The A Place In The Sun presenter was just 50-years-old and had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2020. He shared his devastating diagnosis in 2022 after the disease had spread to his brain.

The late TV star married Jessica Holmes in September 2016 and together they share Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac. In the run up to Father’s Day last year, Jonnie discussed his decision not to tell his young children that he was dying.

The TV star shared his fear that the information would be difficult for his young children to process. He also expressed his hope that keeping the kids in the dark would allow them to create more happy memories together.

In a devastating interview with Hello! Magazine, Jonnie said at the time: “I keep being asked, ‘Are you going to tell them?’ but tell them what? It would be horrible news that they’d have to get their heads around. And it would confuse the hell out of Rex – he’s got a shocking enough day coming. Let’s bury our heads in the sand for as long as possible.”
