Taylor Swift has been "accepted" into Travis Kelce's family following their whirlwind romance, according to a leading relationship expert.

The Blank Space hitmaker and Kansas City Chiefs tight end went "Facebook official" this week, marking a significant moment in the pair's whirlwind romance. They began dating back in August last year, and now the two are thought to be in it for the long run.

NFL player Travis' mum Donna, often spotted sitting next to Taylor at his games as the two cheer him on, updated her personal social media this week. She shared a snap of the chart-topping singer with her close friends and family on her private page, a move one leading expert says signals "a belief that Taylor is here to stay".

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, dating expert Hayley Quinn explained: "Meeting the parents has long been a rite of passage for a blossoming relationship. When a relationship evolves into something long-term and both parties are fully committed, the relationship is no longer just about those two people alone - part and parcel of that relationship is also integrating into one another's family lives and social circles."

Donna's upload was snapped at the Kansas City Chiefs' game in the AFC Championship against the Baltimore Ravens at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium last Sunday. The photograph also featured Travis' dad Ed and various others.

Match expert Hayley continued: "By Donna sharing a picture of them altogether on her Facebook, she's publicly showing that not only has Taylor been accepted into their family, but that they're proud for her to be a part of it.

"And despite the immense amount of pressure on the relationship from Taylor’s fans, she’s only human too, and will naturally want to be accepted by her potential new family. Just like going to a wedding or Christmas dinner with your (potential) future in-laws, people tend not to invite partners to meet their inner circle unless they truly see the relationship heading in a serious direction.

"We’re only human, and we know that if we introduce a partner too soon to our loved ones, (before we’re sure the relationship has longevity) we risk putting our family members through the pain of a breakup as well as ourselves, so it’s only natural we’d want to avoid this. Therefore, by Donna putting the picture online, she's signalling a belief that Taylor is here to stay, and that their relationship is based on a real connection."

It comes after Taylor fans shared their concern for Travis' mom Donna after an NFL crowd clip went viral on social media. Cheering on her beau at a recent Kansas Chiefs game, she's seen in a video from the stands, sitting next to Donna. Taylor is filmed screeching mid-match as followers spot a similarity between her and her new man.

Sharing a video of Taylor shouting across crowds, one fan wrote on X, formally Twitter : "Donna’s been to a few games. This is the norm." Another wrote: "As someone whose also a mother of 2 boys, nothing scares us." While another penned: "Say or feel what you will with the Taylor/Travis entourage, mama Kelce is a mom first, don’t think she ain’t got one eye on Tay Tay." Sharing their concerns for Donna, another user penned: "I'm more concerned that she’s not wearing a hat."
