Karren Brady has addressed filming with Lord Sugar while suffering from illness.

The businesswoman joined The Apprentice in 2010 and has been an aide for Lord Sugar for 13 series. Karren praised the BBC series and revealed that everyone who works on the show, including Lord Sugar, is extremely supportive.

Speaking to the Mirror , Karren opened up what it's like being apart of The Apprentice. She said: "Both Tim and I will say it's a real privilege to be involved in the show. We love making it, we love the outcomes, we enjoy each other's company, we get on well with the whole production. It's a happy ship from start to finish."

Karren explained that every member of The Apprentice team from Lord Sugar to the production crew are always on hand to support each other during the long filming days. The businesswoman revealed the filming process involves “really long days and lots of travelling”.

She continued: “We all have to support each other through the highs and lows of filming because you get them and when it is literally unrelenting at the time, and when you get sick or you don't feel very well you need to rely on each other to help you through. From that point of view, it's a real privilege.

"But, it's the outcomes, that's really what this show is all about – Alan helping people start businesses, giving them his own money and his time and then creating businesses. Some have sold their businesses for millions of pounds, some are in the process of building businesses worth millions pounds and I think that's a real credit to the longevity of the show, how authentic it is and the quality of the outcomes."

In the first episode of the new series, which airs on Thursday, the new candidates begin their journey to secure a £250,000 from Lord Sugar. Aides Karren and Tim Campbell, who won the first series, will be watching over the two teams as they host corporate away days.

However, the kitchen soon erupts into chaos with one team producing the "worst tasting food" ever on the show. Reflecting on the first episode, Karren remarked: “Sometimes you just can't believe your eyes, you just can’t believe how chaotic it is and how unnecessarily unorganised it is."

"You can't catch your breath and you sit there and you're thinking, ‘Am I really seeing this? Is this really happening?’ It was the worst tasting food I'd ever have. Sometimes it doesn't look pretty but actually it tastes quite good. This looked okay, but tasted terrible. [The mistake] was so self-inflicted. And it's so frustrating, because a little bit more organisation and it would have been so much better."
