Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge is in hot water for charging customers £19.50 for a single jacket potato.
As the cost of living crisis continues to put pressure on our purse strings, cutting back on luxuries like expensive meals is a reality for many. Despite this, 50-year-old MasterChef star, Tom has been criticised by punters for "taking the p**s" with the prices at his gastro pub The Coach in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
Back in June, the TV chef was criticised when his classic fish and chips dish, served with a portion of around eight chips, was put on sale in Harrods for an eye-watering £35. Foodies slammed the Harrods prices, with one raging: "What planet is he on, there is a cost of living crisis. Who can afford his prices?"
And now, he is serving up a hot potato for just short of £20. A pack of four jacket potatoes costs just 70p at Tesco.
The TV cook, who also owns the Hand of Flowers pub, boasted about the lunchtime light dish - listed as 'The Coach Baked Potato 'Raclette' with Sauce Reform' on the restaurant's website. Complete with a cheese and ham filling, Tomdescribed the dish as a "work of art".

But customers have been left outraged by the pricey spud after it was shared on social media. One joked that "luxury beans on toast" would be next. Another fumed: "But it's a baked potato."
"For £20 it should be a Fancy Spudulike," commented another. A third said: "These chefs are taking the p*ss now. What's next? Luxury beans on toast?" However, some seemed keen to try the dish. "That’s what I call classic style spud, that’s class," another wrote. And TV presenter Lisa Snowdon, 52, added: "Yum."
Two weeks ago, Kerridge had a potty-mouth rant at customers after his pricey fish and chips were compared to something from a supermarket "frozen aisle." The chef - who has three Michelin stars - branded the customer a "d*ck" for slamming his dish.
He is now charging £32 for it at another of his restaurants, Kerridge's Bar and Grill, in central London.
