Renting clothes has become my new favourite hobby recently. As someone who likes to get a new outfit for more or less every occasion, not only is renting much more sustainable than purchasing something new every time, but it means I can wear stunning designer clothes for a fraction of the price - so it’s a win-win in my opinion.

With two birthdays and a wedding coming up in one weekend, I wanted to avoid that 'nothing to wear' stress - so headed onto rental platform HURR Collective to see what designer pieces I could find in time for my jam-packed weekend.

You can choose to rent most of the items out for four, eight, 16 or 30 days, however, if you need it for less time, you can always message the lender to ask if it’s possible.

For my busy weekend ahead, I decided to rent out this stunning Loewe Cropped Anagram Tank Top which I’ve had my eye on for some time now - but can’t face forking out £295 for. I decided to rent it out for 4 days and it cost me just over £50 which works out around £12.62 a day.

While it’s still pretty pricey for a crop top, I did get two different looks from it, firstly pairing it with black jeans, a cropped white top and trainers for my first night out, and a black skirt, leather blazer and knee high boots for my second night look.

Despite me ordering the top last minute, it came super quickly in time for the weekend, and was in perfect condition. To avoid disappointment, I suggest getting in touch with the lender at least one week in advance, to ensure they have enough time to reply and deliver.

For the wedding guest dress, being 5ft 2” I like to try on before committing to purchasing or renting out a dress in case it’s too long, or doesn’t fit. Luckily HURR has a great fit policy which allows you to receive a part money or part-credit refund if you return your item within 24 hours of your rental start.

Unfortunately, I left it a little too late to rent a dress online, however I knew about the large HURR Collective concession in Selfridges where I could try the dresses on in person, to be sure they fit, and I could get one in time.

After trying on a few different dresses, I spotted this gold Sau Lee Francis Dress hanging on the shelf - and fell in love as soon as I put it on. Originally retailing for £420, I bagged it for just £65.06 for four days - and I even spotted this cute Isla De Gar bag which I rented for £21.38 for four days. Both the dress and bag are also available to rent online too.

For the Loewe top, I packed it up in its original packaging and paid for tracked next day delivery which cost me £5 on top of my rental while the dress and bag from the Selfridges HURR concession came with a free pre-paid shipping label, and shipping bag.

One thing I’d say is there’s arguably too much choice with hundreds of popular designers to choose from online, so be sure to spare some time to go through the website. Another way to save time is by inputting the date you’re looking to rent the item/items for as it will eliminate everything that’s unavailable - saving you from endlessly scrolling.

All in all, I’d say my rental experience with HURR was a positive one, however next time I’ll be sure to choose my outfits, and get in touch with lenders at least a week in advance to avoid last minute stress! You can also sign up now and get £20 off your first rental.
