Starting a new job is daunting, but it's to be expected that it takes time to adjust and get to grips with a new role.

But one woman has revealed that she was abruptly fired after one mistake, just one month into her job in retail - and people are shocked by her experience.

The former employee, Natalie (@natalieulwelling) shared the story with her TikTok followers. She claimed that one day early into the job, she was called into the office for an impromptu meeting with her bosses.

She was then reportedly told that they had been watching her via a security camera and felt that she wasn't interacting with the store's customers enough. And while Natalie insisted she would work on it, describing it as an 'easy fix', they didn't give her the opportunity.

Instead, Natalie says she received an immediate dismissal, with bosses stating they felt it was best they "part ways".

"It's a boutique, it isn't a corporate office. I wasn't expected to be fired on the spot," Natalie told her followers."It's just frustrating because [the manager] said 'not everyone is a people person' and sometimes it's hard for people to get over that hump and go and talk to people… and that was just frustrating to hear because, that's just not me."

Natalie was quickly inundated with support in the comments, with one person telling her: "That is so frustrating. It's ironic how they are letting you go because of how you communicate with guests, but they couldn't communicate with you."

A second said: "Getting fired is so humbling. Happened to me 3 months into a job I thought I really loved. A month later I got such an amazing job, everything happens for a reason!"

Other people suggested that the company was just using excuses. You probably weren't doing anything wrong. They probably fired you for reasons they won't share," one stated, and another echoed: "A lot of places do this after the holidays when they don't need as many employees but good places tell you that at least…"

Someone else told Natalie: "Start ur own boutique next door bestie!"

It comes after a woman named Brittany Pietsch went viral after sharing a video showing her getting fired. Brittany was laid off from US IT giant Cloudflare and ignited a social media storm after she shared the footage on TikTok. In the video, she appears visibly distressed as two human resources employees provide little clarity on the reasons behind her termination.

The video, posted on January 12, has quickly gone viral, amassing over 1.5 million views. Even Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince couldn't ignore the social media buzz, responding to the video on Twitter, expressing his discomfort with the situation.

Prince commented: "The video is painful for me to watch. Managers should always be involved. HR should be involved, but it shouldn't be outsourced to them. No employee should ever actually be surprised they weren't performing."
