Don’t settle for the same starting cliff everyone uses. Here are the best Palworld base locations that will ensure you never stay short of food and resources.

Palworld has been out for just under two weeks, but it somehow feels like Pocketpair’s ‘ Pokemon with guns’ survival game has been here for a lifetime. Plagiarism controversy aside, players on Xbox and PC are still having tons of fun dipping into this mix of creature collecting and crafting. Being successful at both right out of the gate can be a tricky thing to parse, especially in the early game where resources and the distance you can travel are limited. That’s why it’s worth educating yourself on what the best Palworld base locations happen to be.

Knowing the best Palworld base locations and what constitutes one means being able to set yourself up in a stronger position to craft resources, set your Pal friends to complete necessary tasks for you, and free yourself up to make your base work for you – rather than the other way around. Obviously, the game is still in early access so these locations are subject to change.

For now, though, here’s everything you need to know about the best Palworld base locations.

Best Palworld base locations – things to look out for

The best Palworld base locations are the ones that are stacked full of natural resources nearby. Materials such as Stone, Leather, and Wood are easy to come by on that initial starting cliff Palworld encourages you to use as your first base, but it will quickly dry up the longer you stay there. Sure, a base can be made anywhere, but you want to make sure that the location you settle on has most (if not all) of the following attributes:

Gales, snow and rain to batter country today with 80mph wind gusts eiqrkidztiddzinvGales, snow and rain to batter country today with 80mph wind gusts
  • Level ground/even terrain
  • High-up location
  • Normalised weather patterns
  • Nearby Ore deposits

A good combination of the above will ensure you don’t run out of resources quickly, are protected in the event of a raid happening, and helps guarantee you’re able to move around easily. Finding level ground should be step one, as you’ll need to build on it easily and without obstruction. Choosing somewhere that’s high above ground, meanwhile, might be a pain at first but will help give you a good lay of the land, and won’t be an issue by the time you unlock a flying mount.

Best Palworld base locations – areas we’d recommend

If you don’t want to scope out the best Palworld base locations yourself in the interest of time, here’s the handful of sites we’d recommend and why.

Cinnamoth Forest (South)

You won’t gain the ability to build a second base until Level 10, but once you do you’ll want to pick a site near Pals that are slightly higher level. The South end of Cinnamoth Forest is a solid choice for this, offering a lot of flat land that won’t easily be attached and features a variety of different Pal breeds that generally range between levels 15 and 25. There’s also plenty of Wood and Ore supplies around, including Sulpher, which is needed to craft gunpowder. The weather is also dry, meaning you won’t have to protect against changing conditions.

Desolate Church (rear)

Though this spot behind the Desolate Church location is small compared to a lot of other options, it’s still bigger than the starting cliff Palworld presents to you. It also has the benefit of being right next to the Desolate Church, of course, which is a handy fast travel point to bank early on. It has lots more trees and Ore deposits littered around too, so you won’t be short on crafting materials for as long as you stay. Pal levels being relatively low is the one slight drawback, but the normalised weather cycle makes it a solid early option and one of the best Palworld base locations.

Sealed Realm of the Guardian

Arguably the best Palworld base location discovered so far is near what’s called the Sealed Realm of the Guardian. This is because it contains heavy reserves of Coal deposits nearby, which is what you’ll need plenty of next after you’re done with Ore as you level up and progress through the Technology Tree. True, it is on a slight slope, but it is high enough out of the way that you’re easily protected from raids and the weather is continually dry despite its great height. Providing you’re willing to work around the bumpy terrain, the Sealed Realm of the Guardian is ideal.
