EFL Transfers - Leicester's Dewsbury-Hall stance as Coventry battle for star man
The final week of the January transfer window is underway, with clubs up and down the country aiming to get last minute business over the line.
As well as incomings, many EFL clubs will be braced for offers from sides higher up the football pyramid - but who will hang on to their key assets?
Clubs around the country have until 11pm on February 1 to finish their business, so there might be some shock deals before the winter transfer window shuts.
Here are the latest EFL transfer rumours, along with insight from our EFL72 team - you can also sign up for our daily EFL newsletter below...
Leicester's Dewsbury-Hall stance
Leicester have no plans to sell star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, despite interest from Premier League clubs. According to Sky Sports, the top flight duo of Brighton and Brentford want to make a move for the midfielder but remain well short of the Foxes' current valuation.
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rushIt is understood that Enzo Maresca's side would be looking for a bid in excess of £40million, £10million more than previously reported, due to a lack of time to find a suitable replacement. The 25-year-old is regarded as a key figure in the club's promotion-chasing side and is said to be needing to be convinced to make a move at this point in time.
However, it is also clear that Leicester would need to sell in this window if they are to bring any players in themselves, so this sort of deal could be the catalyst needed to allow the club to strengthen.
EFL72 says:"Leicester boss Enzo Maresca understands the clubs current status for bringing new players to the club but this will be one sale he will definitely be against - particularly in this window. A bid in the £40m range would be difficult to turn down, though, and it could come down to whether Dewsbury-Hall wants to take the risk of leaving the league leaders mid-season."
Coventry to reject O'Hare offers
Coventry are set to resist offers for midfielder Callum O'Hare. Burnley and Championship rivals Leicester and Southampton are all interested in the 25-year-old, who has impressed for the Sky Blues since returning from injury.
It is understood that O'Hare is yet to sign a new contract with the Midlands club and could leave for free in the summer - but Coventry would view a potential promotion push as the priority over a transfer fee this month.
EFL72 says:"O'Hare is no stranger to transfer talk having been linked away from the CBS Arena several times in his Coventry career, but his injury last season appeared to have thwarted that until this month. Coventry's stance is interesting, however, with the player clearly viewed as the catalyst to any sort of promotion challenge - a big fee could change things, though."
Leeds in Belgian link
Leeds have been named as one of the clubs reportedly interested in Sint-Truiden's Daiki Hashioka. Reports from Belgium claim that Daniel Farke's side are one of several sides interested in a January move for the Japanese right-back, alongside fellow English club Luton.
It is understood that the 24-year-old is open to a transfer away from Belgium and his preference is to make the move to England, with both clubs 'main contenders' to secure his signature.
EFL72 says:"It's no secret that Leeds are after a full-back this month after several key departures and Hashioka is the latest name to join the ever-growing list of links. A Japanese international, the 24-year-old has built up a decent amount of experience in Belgium and a move to Leeds could be favourable given their current push for promotion rather than a relegation scrap with Luton."
Palace reluctant for Wharton loan
Crystal Palace would not be willing to loan back Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton should they sign him this month, it's been claimed. Roy Hodgson's side have recently seen an £18.5m bid turned down for the 19-year-old but the club are expected to return with another offer.
Everton chiefs face transfer backlash from fans after deadline day disasterBlackburn are said to be holding out for a fee closer to £25m and would want to see the midfielder return to Ewood Park on a loan deal until the end of the season - something the Eagles are not currently willing to do.
Porteous exit not ruled out
Watford boss Valrien Ismael has refused to rule out the exit of defender Ryan Porteous this month. A report from Football Scotland claims the 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Serie A side Udinese, who are also owned by Watford chief Gino Pozzo.
The Scottish centre half has only been at Vicarage Road since this time last year but has just six months left on his current deal, with plenty of interest from the Championship and abroad having already been established before that move.
Swansea move for Brazilian winger
Swansea are close to a move for Brazilian winger Ronald, according to reports. The 22-year-old is currently on-loan at Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora and is expected to make the move to South Wales for a seven-figure fee.
Luke Williams' side are believed to have agreed a fee with parent club Gremio Anapolis, with the winger set for a medical in the coming days.
