Celebrity Antiques Road Trip returned late last year after a nearly-year-long hiatus with a star-studded lineup - and there wasn't a dull moment in sight.

The 12th series of the BBC One show treated viewers to an exciting line-up of familiar faces, with Love Island winners and Strictly favourites just some of the VIPs who took to the wheel for a nationwide treasure hunt. If that wasn't enough to pique interest, there was also an appearance from a TOWIE icon and even two well-known BBC news anchors.

The last series of Celebrity Antiques Roadshow Trip was even hailed for having one of the show's 'best celebrity line-ups ever' by Craig Hunter, Creative Director of Factual at the show's production company, STV Studio. "We’ve been making this show for 12 years now and there’s still no better feeling than seeing a new crop of celebrities get as excited and passionate about the world of antiques as we are," he added.

As viewers continue to tune into the original version of the BBC show every week, here, we take a look at some of the most shocking, hilarious, and dramatic moments from seasons gone.

Gemma Collins

Gemma Collins turned on the charm as she dealt with an antique dealer in the most recent series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

The former TOWIE star, 42, joined experts James Braxton and Margie Cooper alongside DJ Melvin Odoom on a hunt for antiques. Gemma made the trip to Southend-on-Sea and quickly met her match in Sally Tyrie - the owner of long-established antiques shop, Sally's Out of Curiosity.

Gemma tried to haggle her way to a bargain, but Sally didn't give up easily. The GC attempted to charm her way to a better price as showcased a classic Georg Jensen brooch and matching earrings. Trying to sweeten up Sally, she said: "Sally, firstly I just want to say, you have got the most fabulous shop." To which an unimpressed Sally replied: "You're not buttering me up, are you?"

It didn't stop there, as Gemma went to on ask for a 'random caviar bowl' in the shop before asking if it could be thrown in as a freebie. "No one eats caviar anymore because they can't afford it. I wish I could, but since the cost of living crisis, I can't. I've gone down to potted shrimps," said Gemma.

Amy Dowden

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden was widely praised for appearing on Celebrity Antiques Roadshow Trip with fans hailing her 'amazing' at the time. The episode was filmed before Amy's cancer treatment.

The Welsh dancer, 33, announced last June that she had undergone a mastectomy following a stage three cancer diagnosis and has just had her fifth round of chemotherapy after revealing she had been diagnosed with "another type" of cancer. Sadly, Amy needed to take a break from Strictly as she underwent treatment, but she had been able to film an episode of Celebrity's Antiques Roadshow alongside Dragons' Den star, Sara Davies.

Sara, who competed on Strictly in 2021, said of working with Amy: "I'd always heard what an incredible adventure Antiques Road Trip is. Being with Amy made it even more special for me, and to be able to spend that time together and share the experience was just brilliant."

The series was filmed before Amy's cancer treatment. Before the episode aired, the dancer shared a snap of herself in hospital, hooked up to a drip with her freshly shaved head. Amy was showered with praise by fans after the episode aired, as one gushed: "Amy is a hero. Love that she's on Antiques Roadshow. She comes across so beautifully well."

Another echoed: "This will be one of the most memorable episodes for me from now on. Amy Dowden is a national treasure and such a brave and strong young women. What a pleasure to watch her shine during this episode."

Two stars of the popular comedy series Derry Girls paid a visit to the north-east and the Aboyne Highland Games for the new series of BBC2's Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. During the episode, it was two stars of the hit Channel 4 comedy up against each other, as Tara Lynne O'Neill - known as Ma Mary - checked out a traditional Aboyne Dress alongside Games Secretary Morag McBeath and dancer Rachael Walker.

Meanwhile Granda Joe - played by Ian McElhinney - spoke to heavy convenor Murray Brown and heavy competitor James Dawkins about the art of tossing the caber during the rainy event. Both were given a kitty of £400 to spend with guides in the form of Paul Laidlaw and Natasha Raskin Sharp, and arrived in style during their trip to Aberdeenshire. The Derry Girls duo toured the north-east shops in their sporty 1970s MG BGT, but they were stopped cows en route to Aboyne.
