Sushi is a delicacy carefully prepared so customers can enjoy the flavour without worrying about the nasty side effects of untreated raw fish. One girl has shocked TikTok with her eating habits as she bragged about eating raw salmon picked up from supermarket shelves despite the risks involved.

Aggie Waller says she is "fish obsessed" and grabs a raw fillet every chance she gets. The 18-year-old added that she "defo has worms" while joking about the serious side effects from eating untreated raw fish.

In one video, Aggie tucks in to a raw salmon fillet from the supermarket, which is not sashimi grade fish, while in the car. She captioned it: "Just missing the soya sauce banging" and wrote "Anyone else or am I a wrongen" on screen.

The TikToker has posted multiple videos about eating raw salmon but has more recently also posted a video eating raw eggs which are less dangerous. Many people regularly include raw egg in their fitness first diets as they are a good source of nutrients despite the risk of salmonella.

Aggie says her unusual eating habits come from when she was a child and her father would feed her raw fish. Friends and family see this as a fun quirk but raw fish that is not sashimi grade, which is specially frozen for minimum of 15 hours to kill parasites, is a dangerous diet.

Uncooked salmon contains parasites such as tape worms which develop from bacteria and can grow up to 39 feet long. To kill the worm, patients must take medication that dissolves the worm or have it surgically removed.

People rushed to the comments section on Aggie's video to share their disgust, as one wrote: "The salmon you get for sushi is specifically treated for parasites so it's safe. You shouldn't just eat any random cut of salmon they will be filled with parasites that can have a drastic effect on your health and can live inside you for years."

Another said: "Get some worm tablets asap". Aggie, from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, said: "I take the comments on the chin but it's the same thing over again and it's getting boring now."

She started regularly eating raw salmon in 2019 and said: "My friend and I would walk to the shop to buy our snacks as you do when you're 15 and that was my snack of choice."

Aggie isn't oblivious to the risks and admitted that she "definitely has worms" but doesn't intend to stop eating the bizarre snack. She added: "I like the texture of the raw salmon in my mouth and it's never made me ill eating it despite knowing, since I started eating, the health risks."
