Woman left reeling after Starbucks barista puts 'smooth' message on coffee cup
Forget Tinder, turns out buying a cup of coffee could end in a happily-ever-after.
Or, it could end up having to find a new local to get your caffeine fix. That's what happened to one woman who was left cringing after realising her barista had subtly left her a 'smooth' message on her to-go cup. She didn't discover the 'secret' note until she'd left the store and got back in her car.
The anonymous barista had drawn an arrow to the bottom of the cup, which details the small print. It usually reads: "Careful, the beverage you're about to enjoy is extremely hot." You can see where this is going...
But instead, the Starbucks employee had crossed out several of the words so that the message read: "Careful, you're extremely hot." The woman, who posts on TikTok under the username @chance_twins alongside her twin sister, posted the encounter online back in 2022.
She captioned the video: "What just happened at Starbucks? Never going back there." Commenters on the video were divided over the gesture, as while some thought it was "cute", others wondered how many other people the barista had written the same message to. One person said: "That was smooth, not going to lie."
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportWhile another added: "It's cute, girls say guys never do anything. He just put his heart out to you." But a third found the message suspicious, as they wrote: "I'm wondering how many other girls he did that to."
