'I'm a Deliveroo driver earning £2k a month - one trick gets me even more cash'

A savvy woman has revealed how she manages to make up to £2,000 a month by delivering food - and she has a secret trick to make even more.

Atlanta Martin, 23, has been delivering takeaways for Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat since she was 19, and hailed it as the "perfect job" to have while raising her daughter.

Previously a fight dispatcher for EasyJet at Gatwick Airport, Atlanta admitted she could never go back to a "normal job" and loves how she can control how much money she makes each shift - all thanks to one handy hack.

Explaining how the got the delivery driver bug, she told The Mirror: "I saw an advert on Indeed for a Deliveroo driver and it sounded quite good. It wasn't that popular back then either." Once she got the hang of it, she then started to pick up jobs for Just Eat and Uber Eats too, maximising her income. But she also learnt another secret to making more money.

The mum makes on average £10-£15 an hour, but she can make more if she takes jobs that are further away. She explained: "You're paid per job rather than hourly, so the more you do in an hour the better. I once had a job that was eight miles away and I was paid £14. It only took me half an hour so it was quite a good one. Normally it reflects on the more jobs you do in an hour the better."

She explained how you're paid depending on the distance of the customer's house to the restaurant, so if they don't live too far you don't always get as much. But Atlanta doesn't mind the short trips as she said they all "add up".

"The minimum you can earn is £3, but I take whatever comes up," she said. "A lot of drivers won't take the short distances ones, as well as the grocery orders which always pay less as you're never going that far, but I don't mind as they add up quickly.

"The average for me is £10-£15 an hour and I can make £100 a day depending on how long I work for. Everyone has different targets on how much they want to work and I used to work a lot more hours as I don't mind driving."

Atlanta says she will choose her hours around her daughter, but has recently been working from 2pm to 8:45pm and will take videos for her social media page @atlantadelivers along the way to share what life is really like as a delivery driver.
