M&S shoppers 'won't buy Chinese takeaway again' after trying £5.50 meal
For many people across the world, Sunday, January 22nd will mark the Lunar New Year, one of the most important annual celebrations for those from East and Southeast Asian cultures. To mark the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit, M&S has launched a Year of the Rabbit box, which contains a range of well-loved classics including chicken and black bean sauce, crispy sweet and sour chicken, Singapore noodles, egg fried rice, and vegetable spring rolls.
Each box costs £11, and contains enough food for two people, working out at a relatively thrifty £5.50 per portion. As some have pointed out, this is a bit of a bargain when compared to your average Chinese takeaway, which would cost quite a bit more when factoring in side dishes.
In an Instagram post showcasing the new box, M&S said, 'Get ready for the Lunar New Year with our Year of the Rabbit box!', urging shoppers to 'tag a friend you’ll be sharing this with'.
The post has clocked up various approving comments, including from those who've declared they'll now be choosing this box over their usual favourite takeaway.
One person wrote: "These are the best prefer them over a takeaway."

Others hailed the offering as 'delicious', remarking that they 'will definitely be trying this'.
Although there are many fantastic Chinese restaurants up and down the country to try this weekend, many of us will be cutting back on the number of takeaways we order amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.
For those looking to save a few pennies while still enjoying plenty of flavour, this tasty M&S option looks set to be a real treat.
