After a stressful day of Traitor hunting, it's no surprise the Faithful need a stiff drink. The cast of the BBC's hit show The Traitors can be seen enjoying beer, wine or lethal sparkling rose during their evenings in the castle - but it turns out the producers have imposed some strict booze roles.

In line with most reality TV shows, the contestants are allowed two alcoholic drinks per evening. However, a previous contestant has revealed they rarely got that during his time on the show. Wilf, who was a traitor on the first episode of the award-winning show, said: "They said two but they [staff] always disappeared after one. They don’t want us to mess up and get drunk and accidentally do something."

The cast are also allowed to smoke and vape, however, there is a strict rule they must follow when they're drinking or want to light up - they can never be alone.

This is of course to make sure the camera crews don't miss any key moments between contestants, which could be vital in terms of their eventual decisions of who to vote for.

The show features a group of strangers living together in a castle, with some secretly chosen as 'Traitors'. The rest, known as the Faithful, must figure out who the Traitors are. The second series of the award-winning show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, is full of surprises. Some say it's the best reality TV in years.

But all the attention and the mystery of the show means many fans have lots of questions about what goes on behind the scenes. One thing that has fans puzzled is where the contestants sleep. In the first series, it seemed like they all slept in the grand castle. But when the show came back, clips showed them being driven away from the castle every night.

The Mirror's TV columnist Sara Wallis has cleared things up, confirming the stars don't actually stay in the fancy castle. Instead, they sleep at a hotel 45 minutes away. Every night, they're driven to Inverness where they spend the night before being taken back to the castle for breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, a show secret has left many viewers and the peckish contestants feeling let down. Former contestants have revealed that the morning meal isn't as appetising as it appears on TV - despite looking rather grand.

Ivan from series one said on social media: "I’m sorry guys, it’s time to come clean and leak something shocking about The Traitors. It pains me to tell you, but that breakfast is REALLY DRY AND NOT VERY NICE.” Players usually eat in their hotel rooms before they start filming.
