The Traitors murders don't actually happen at night, past Faithful confirms

Anyone watching The Traitors will know how the Faithful (and a few cheeky traitors) talk about their sleepless nights, fearing they could be murdered at bedtime.

After the clock chimes we see our favourite cloaked baddies head up to the turret to decide on their next victim, and the unlucky person is then killed during the night - or are they?

Sorry to ruin the magic of the show, but it turns out the murders don't actually happen at night, so all this talk of sleepless nights is rather exaggerated.

Of course, getting the cast up to be murdered in the middle of the night would be a production nightmare - as well as a bit of a pain for the contestants to have to get up and dressed, and do their hair and make-up. Revealing the behind the scenes secrets, John McManus reveals what actually happens.

He said: “Everybody goes to the castle at the same time in different jeeps and then you’re all put into separate holding rooms. It’s like a Big Brother diary room with the letter sat on the chair in front of you, and it just says, ‘The Traitors have murdered you’.”

Well, that explains why some of the cast look so glam with no sight of bedhead hair!

The Traitors has become a huge BBC hit, featuring a group of strangers living together in a castle. Some are secretly chosen as 'Traitors' and the rest, known as the Faithful, must figure out who the Traitors are.

Series two of the award-winning show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, is full of surprises and has been hailed as top-notch reality TV. Folks all over the UK are hooked on the backstabbing and betrayal, with this year's show seeing many Traitors turn against each other. And naturally, viewers have lots of questions about what goes on behind the scenes.

One thing that has fans puzzled is where the contestants sleep. In the first series, it seemed they all slept in the grand castle. But when the show came back, clips showed them being driven away from the castle every night.

Sara reveals that the stars don't actually stay in the posh castle but instead kip at a hotel 45 minutes away. They're driven to Inverness every evening to spend the night, then brought back to the castle for breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, a show secret has left many viewers and the peckish contestants feeling let down. Former contestants have revealed that the morning meal isn't as tasty as it appears on TV. We see them in a lovely morning room enjoying a spread of pastries, fruit, coffee and juices.
