Fans say Katy Perry looks like a 'wax figure' as she poses with Gwyneth Paltrow

Katy Perry fans were left confused and queried her 'wax figure' look as she posed for the camera with Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow.

The American singer-songwriter, 38, was a guest on the actress' Goop podcast and Gwyneth took to Instagram to share a photo of the pair to her 8.2 million followers.

She wrote: "Guys @katyperry is in the @goop podcast this week and she is such a surprise and delight."

Gwyneth, 50, who founded wellness and lifestyle brand Goop in 2008, looked radiant in the snap as she went for a natural look with light make-up. She was wearing a black turtleneck jumper and tied her blonde hair back as she beamed at the camera alongside her showbiz friend.

Katy wore a frilly jumper with a high neckline in the close-up photo of the pair, but it was her heavy make-up which drew plenty of criticism on the social media platform.

Many questioned whether it really was the Fireworks hitmaker, who was one of over 42,000 to like the post, alongside Paltrow in the photo.

One person commented: "Is this the Katy Perry wax figure," while another asked: "Drag race promo shot?"

A third said: "The longer I stare at this photo the more confused I get." Another wrote: "You did her dirty with this photo."

However, not all of the comments were negative, with one user saying: "Both beautiful, smart, successful women who happen to live in the same beautiful place."

Mum-of-one Katy has been subject to discussions about her appearance in recent months after she was accused of being a robot during her Las Vegas residency last autumn.

In October, an incident went viral after her eye seemingly twitched and got stuck blinking while she was in the middle of performing. It had many fans poke fun at the star's "mechanical failure".

Her "glitch" came as she struck a pose post-song. A member of the audience captured the incident in which she took a few seconds to get her eye to open properly again before carrying on with the performance.

While some fans joked "the robot had a glitch", one user tried to be a bit more rational with their response insisting it could have been Katy's false eyelashes getting stuck to the bottom of her eye.
