This Morning star shares family struggle after 'devastating' diagnosis

This Morning star Sian Welby opened up about her family's struggle on Tuesday's show after a "devastating" diagnosis and was praised for her "professionalism".

During the latest episode, Sian, 37, who made her debut as a main presenter on Monday, discussed the latest headlines with co-host Dermot O'Leary and the show's experts. For one topic, the group spoke about a revolutionary blood test for Alzheimer's, which can detect the disease.

Talking about the topic, it prompted Sian to open up about her own family's struggle. The presenter said: "It's one of the most devastating, my dad's going through it, he has vascular dementia. You're scared to lose a person that you know, it is quite frightening! Like you say, would I want to take a test knowing I could be susceptible to it? It's hard to know! I don't know if I want to know, is ignorance bliss? But then again, if I could do something about it?"
