Manchester United will send Dan Gore out on loan, just over a year after he was involved in a furious training ground bust-up with Anthony Martial.

Gore had made his breakthrough into Erik ten Hag's first-team squad this season. The 19-year-old has made two appearances this term, featuring as a substitute against Aston Villa in the Premier League and Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

The midfielder has mainly featured on the bench for the Red Devils, as well as captaining their Under-18s side in the UEFA Youth League. It marks a rise in fortunes for Gore from when he first started training with the team.

But with chances for him to impress at United likely to be few and far between over the second-half of the season, the Red Devils are ready to allow him to depart. That exit is likely to take the form of a loan move until the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, League One side Port Vale are leading to race to secure Gore's signature. They appear to have beaten third-tier rivals Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town and Fleetwood Town to the 19-year-old.

Gore is now in the final stages of completing a move to Vale Park, where he will join a side currently sitting 18th in the table. Though he has been a frequent face on the United bench, there is said to be an 'acceptance' that he needs regular competitive games, with Gore becoming the eighth player to leave Old Trafford this month.

The midfielder's potential move comes just over a year after he was involved in a bust-up with Martial at United's Carrington training ground. Gore had been invited to take part in a first-team training session to help make up the numbers during the 2022 World Cup.

Boss Ten Hag was forced to temporarily halt the training session after Gore clattered Martial with a robust tackle. Martial did not take kindly to the challenge, lashing out and catching the youngster.

Gore stood his ground despite Martial's standing as an established first-team star. The pair had to be pulled part, with Gore then warned by coaching staff that such tackles were forbidden during training.

Martial apologised to the youngster, with Gore happy to accept and put the incident in the past. Ten Hag handed Gore his debut months later against Palace on his birthday, with the United boss showing his delight with the starlet.

"I think it’s a great birthday for him, but I’m not a manager – and we don’t have coaches here – who give players opportunities [for nothing], they have to deserve it," Ten Hag told MUTV after the game.

"Once they deserve it, they get the chance. But then, they have to prove it and I think, the young players like Hannibal, Pellistri and Garnacho, they have to do it every time and we are very critical, they deserve it every day in training.

"When the standards are too low, they will hear it and we don’t play them because they have to train every day to the maximum. It is good for the club to develop such players, and for the players as well to get into professional football, to get into top professional football."
