A medical evacuation helicopter crashed in Oklahoma, tragically killing three people.

The chopper was returning to base after transporting a patient to a hospital in Weatherford, an hour west of Oklahoma City.

The crash happened near County Road 1010 and the identities of those killed have not been released yet. "Our primary focus is on supporting the families and our team members," said a Facebook post from the Air Evac Lifeteam company.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. They aren't sure what went wrong but explained that they lost contact with the aircraft.

"The crew is based out of Weatherford, OK, and was returning to base after completing a patient care transport in Oklahoma City when we lost contact with them," they posted on Facebook.

Just a week after a jet crash in North Carolina, the US Marine Corps had to call 911 for help in finding a missing F-35 fighter jet in South Carolina. The pilot had to eject from the plane during a "mishap", but the jet kept flying over the Lowcountry region, according to military officials.

The pilot managed to parachute safely into a residential area in North Charleston, but the jet that disappeared on September 17, 2023, was still missing. Even after the pilot ejected, the jet continued to fly until it was out of sight, causing officials to scramble to find it.

ABC News got hold of audio files earlier this month that recorded the moment a major from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort spoke with a Williamsburg County 911 dispatcher. "I believe we potentially have an aircraft that went down in Williamsburg County earlier today," the major said.

The dispatcher asked: "You believe you have an aircraft that went down in Williamsburg County?" The major confirmed: "That is correct. We are trying to look for it and we are coming up dry so far."

On the day of the crash, the Marine Corps provided the coordinates where they thought the jet fell. It wasn't known if the F-35's transponder was on during the crash.

A medical team was prepared for the crash but stood down after it was confirmed that the pilot was safe. However, they still didn't know where the jet was.
