A man and a woman have been killed while out walking when they were hit by a car.

The pair were hit by a black BMW X5 yesterday at 1.45pm. Investigating police have called on any witnesses to the accident to get in touch. A spokesman added the driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "At around 1.40pm on Saturday 20 January 2024, the driver of a black BMW X5 was involved in a collision with two pedestrians who were walking in Thurnham Lane. Officers attended the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service where both pedestrians, a man and a woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any other information or dashcam footage prior to, or at the time of the collision, is urged to call Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit."
