A woman in her 60s has died after suffering a head injury in a fall from a mobility scooter.

The woman was dashed to hospital on Friday morning after the accident but died of her injuries there today.

She was riding the scooter along a residential road in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and fell to the ground near a junction.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident.

"This was a very sad incident that resulted in a woman’s death," Detective Constable Adam Rigby, from Nottinghamshire Constabulary, said today.

Tania El-Keria died at the scene in the suburb despite the best efforts of paramedics.

The mum of three, who did a great deal of charity work in her community, was described as "simply wonderful" by friends.
